The average occupancy of hotels, boarding houses and health resorts in Crimea in July exceeds 70%, for the South Coast the occupancy rate is 95%, which is a record indicator, the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea Vadim Volchenko told RIA Novosti.

"The occupancy rate is record-breaking, most of all it concerns the South Coast of Crimea, but not only. In both the east and west, all hotels that are ready for the start of the season are 70-80% full, and some of them are 95% full. On average, the occupancy rate is more than 70%, on the South Coast – more than 95%. There are still vacant rooms, of course, but the further on, the fewer of them. The season is going unusually and successfully, now all the work of the Ministry is aimed at ensuring the safety of recreation in order to prevent the deterioration of the epidemic situation", — the Minister stressed.

At the same time, according to him, there is a great demand for recreation in high-class hotels, which are in deficiency in Crimea. To solve this problem, says Vadim Volchenko, it is necessary to reconstruct and renovate existing buildings, to sell them at auction, to attract investors, as well as to construct new accommodation facilities.

A "new tourist" has appeared in Crimea: who he is and how he likes to relax this summer >>

"For example, there are plans to build a hotel complex on the western coast with 1.5 to 2.5 thousand rooms with a sports club, a medical center, and balneology. We understand that in any segment we do not have enough hotels, they need to be built. It is very important to create a competitive environment, but this is not a one-season task", — said the Minister, adding that the regional government is taking the necessary measures.

At the same time, he said, the flight ticket price to Crimea has decreased in comparison with the level of the last year, and at the moment package tours are very profitable for tourists: accommodation in a 3* hotel is about 25 thousand rubles ($ 357) a week for two persons.
