Next week, the second season of the Gryphon performance, which in 2019 was a triumph, will open in the territory of the Tauric Chersonesos Museum and Preserve in Sevastopol. The first three shows are scheduled for July 17, 18 and 19, the city government press service informed.

The performance tells about the thousand-year history of Chersonesos − Gykia, Xanthos, Princess Anna, Prince Vladimir, Dasha of Sevastopol, the heroic defense of Sevastopol. "Already next week, the scheduled show of the Gryphon performance begins, for which this year will be the second season. In July and August fans of this unusual open-air theater project will be able to attend any of the 18 planned shows", — the press service informed.

It is noted that by the second season the performance has undergone significant changes. So, now a new director is working on the play, who has amended the dramaturgy of key scenes and strengthened the emotional impact of the production. For the first time in the performance, new scenarios of light-sound cards will be presented. In addition, 3D graphics have been improved, the properties and costumes have been updated, and the scenery is being restored.

The Gryphon will involve both Crimean actors who have already become familiar to the audience, and new participants − professional actors will play the roles of Vanya and Masha − main characters. "The character of Suvorov was changed, including the costume. This role will be played by the honored actor of the A.V. Lunacharsky Sevastopol Academic Russian Drama Theater Yuri Kornishin. The final of the performance has become even deeper and more expressive due to the variety of additional mise-en-scènes", — the press service added.

The Gryphon performance was staged to the play of the same name by the chairman of the Patriarchal Council for Culture, Pskov and Porkhov Mithropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov). The premiere took place on July 27, 2019 on the new stage of the Tauric Chersonesos Museum and Preserve and was devoted to the Day of the Christianization of Rus. For two months, the production was seen by more than 10 thousand people. The audience was shown the combined mechanical dolls, kinesthetic objects, multi-meter inflatable structures, amazing multimedia effects. The performance involved more than 100 actors, stuntmen and ballet soloists, who during the show changed 300 costumes.
