It is on the South Coast, near the small town of Gaspra and Cape Ai-Todor. The rock was named because of its shape − from a distance it looks like a jib sail. The object is one of the "ID cards" of the South Coast. Its height is 18 meters.

Not far from the rock there is the famous Swallow's Nest castle. A beautiful view of the Sail Rock opens from observation platform of the castle. And above the rock there is an observation point from where you can view the sea vistas.

Thanks to the picturesque view, the rock attracts photo amateurs and artists. Aivazovsky, Vasnetsov and other famous masters depicted this rock on their canvases.
