Established in 1973, this is Russia's smallest reserve, with an area of 240 hectares. Its main attraction is a relict grove of Greek juniper. The average age of trees is 100 years but some of them are 500 years old. It has about 540 plant and 1,100 animal species, including rare and endangered ones, such as the leopard and large whip snakes, glass-lizards and Crimean geckos. The reserve is part of the Nikitsky Botanical Gardens.
