One of the largest salt lakes on the peninsula, Sasyk is 14 km long and has a maximum width of 9 km. The lake's distinguishing feature is the hue of its water, which is tinted pink by the microphytic algae Dunaliella salina. The lake is located between the cities of Yevpatoria and Saki and is part of the Sasyk Regional Landscape and Nature Reserve. The lake owes its medicinal properties to its salts, which have high concentration of healthy substances, and the mud deposits at the bottom of the lake.
