Kachi-Kalyon is a complex of rocks with natural and man-made caves. One of the oldest cave towns and churches on the Crimean Peninsula, Kachi-Kalyon presumably emerged near Bakhchisarai in the 6th century due to a trade route that ran along the Kacha River linking the southwestern and southern parts of the Crimean Peninsula. In the 8th century, Kachi-Kalyon was transformed into a monastery, which existed until the 10th century.
