The river flows from two other rivers, Sary-Uzen and Auzun-Uzen. The name ‘Kokkoz' literally means "the blue eye" in the Crimean Tatar language. The valley is shaped like a V; its bed is narrow, curvy and has lots of cataracts, shallows and rifts. It is one of Crimea's most powerful rivers. The highest water comes in late autumn and winter, but floods can happen in any season after abundant rains. Kokkozka flows into the Belbek River at the village of Aromat (Vitim).
