It is located in the Grand Canyon not far from the village of Sokolinoye. It is a small lake: about 5 m across and 5 m deep. The Bath of Youth is filled with clear cold water from a mountain spring. The water temperature never gets above 9-11 degrees, even in the summer. The water seems black because the bottom can't be seen, so the lake is sometimes called Kara-Gol (Turkic for black lake).
