The Royal Kurgan or Tsarsky Kurgan from the second half of the 4th century BC is a piece of antique funerary architecture. Located in the village of Gadzhi-Mushai not far from Kerch, the 17-metre mound is the burial place of one of the rulers of the Bosporan Kingdom from the Spartokid dynasty. A 36-metre corridor leads to a square burial chamber built into the rock, which has a twelve-level dome. Christian religious symbols are carved on the walls.
