This medieval Byzantine fortress is part of the Tauric Chersonese National Nature Reserve. It was built of quarry stone and limestone blocks on a cliff above the St Clement Monastery. The walls were from 1.2 m to 4 m thick, and the six towers were 12 m high. The half-ruined towers and remnants of the walls have been preserved to this day. There is a cave monastery under the fortress, and the cliff is called Monastyrskaya (Monastery).
