Karaite Kenesas

The early 19^th century kenesa complex was the centre of spiritual life for Yevpatoria's Karaites. It consists of the central entrance, several courtyards inside the complex, large and small kenesas, small buildings for household needs, a religious school, a library and a canteen for the needy. It was closed in 1959. Later, the complex housed a museum of atheism and today it accommodates a museum of Karaite history. There is also a café where visitors can sample traditional Karaite dishes.
