The complex opened on Darsan Hill in 1967, ahead of the anniversary of the October Revolution. The monument is dedicated to the warriors who perished during the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. It is an impressive reinforced concrete ring covered with white Inkerman stone and a granite stela at its foot. The eternal flame kindled from the Malakhov Kurgan in Sevastopol burns there.
