The monument is a symbol of Yalta and is dedicated to characters from The Lady with the Dog, a short story that takes place in the southern Crimean city. The male character resembles the author. The monument was installed in 2004 in the middle of Lenin Embankment, near the Yubileiny Concert Hall.
