The Orthodox church above Foros was built on the steep Red Cliff, in 1892 to commemorate the crash of the royal family's train in 1888 in Borki. Alexander III and his family survived, and thanksgiving services were held across Russia. The church is decorated with a carved porch and an elevated belfry.
