The Writer Ivan Shmelyov House Museum is located in a picturesque spot called Professorsky Ugolok. Museum exhibits tell the story of Ivan Shmelyov's life and work in Moscow before the 1917 Revolution, in Alushta during the Civil War and in France, where he emigrated later. The museum is a research centre for studying Ivan Shmelyov's creative legacy and Russian-language literature abroad. Since 1990, the museum has been holding the Crimean International Shmelyov Readings.
