The monastery was founded in the 14th century. It is located in a forest-covered valley on the northwestern slope of Mount Grytsya, 3.5 km southwest of Stary Krym, Kirovsky District. The monastery includes a canteen, monks' cells, the Surb Nshan church, fountains and a garden. This is the only monastery complex of the Armenian Apostolic Church of the 14th-19th century in Crimea that has survived until today.
