Kara-Tobe is an ancient settlement that dates back to the period between the 4th century BC and the 2nd century AD. Archeological excavations have been carried out there since 1983. The museum includes the archeological site of the Yevpatorion Fortress built in 110 BC and the only Scythian estate in the world, showing everyday life of the nomads. In addition, there is a mini-museum at the former military base of the Black Sea Navy with an observation point.
